Located in the heart of Mombasa CBD, adjacent to the historic Marikiti Market, SBS Marikiti Complex is a modern commercial development comprising retail and office spaces. Bulkon Builders Ltd undertook the complete construction of the complex from the ground up.
The project presented significant logistical and construction challenges due to its location within one of Mombasa’s busiest commercial areas. The highly congested surroundings, heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and limited space available for site operations required careful planning and coordination of material deliveries, storage, plant movement and day-to-day construction activities. Maintaining safe and efficient operations while minimising disruption to neighbouring businesses and the surrounding public environment was a key consideration throughout the project.
A notable feature of the development is its large central skylight, which brings natural light deep into the interior spaces and creates a bright, open atmosphere within the complex. The development also incorporates retail spaces, offices, panoramic lifts, rooftop areas and supporting building services, providing a contemporary commercial environment in one of Mombasa’s busiest areas.
